YANGON, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar and China have signed the document on the implementation of a veterinary laboratory project in Myanmar, the Chinese Embassy said in a statement on Friday.
The documents were signed in Myanmar's capital Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.
The China-aided project is aimed at facilitating the integration of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and will be implemented under the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI), an ASEAN program that China assists.
The project involves building a veterinary laboratory, providing laboratory equipment and training the personnel, the embassy's statement said.
It will help increase Myanmar's capacity for prevention, control, diagnosing and monitoring of animal diseases in the Southeast Asian country, according to the statement.
China signed a similar agreement on vet lab project with Cambodia last year.
China-aided projects in Myanmar cover the sectors of agriculture, poverty reduction, culture, arts, and education, aiming to promote local people's well-being.
